Our Story

Sapu Superapp is not a sudden creation. It is the result of a 30‑year journey in technology by a Sarawakian founder, beginning when the internet and computers first arrived in Malaysia in 1994.

Founder’s Background

Our founder is a true developer – not just a businessman, but a technologist who grew up alongside Malaysia's digital evolution.

From the days of ICQ to mIRC, he wrote countless scripts and built bots. That was his first classroom in software engineering – no formal degree, just raw curiosity and passion.

Over 30 years, he has:

· Developed numerous software projects
· Witnessed the shift from desktop to web, and from web to mobile
· Built many applications across different industries

Yet one big vision remained unfulfilled: a superapp for Sarawak.

The Birth of Sapu – 2018

In 2018, our founder noticed that most services in Sarawak still operated the traditional way – phone calls, scattered WhatsApp orders, no integrated system.

That is when the idea of Sapu was born.

The name “Sapu” was chosen because it is deeply rooted in Sarawakian culture. Sapu means “to sweep completely” – one app that covers all your daily needs.

The 8‑Year Journey (2018 – 2026)

Year Milestone
2018 Development of Sapu Superapp begins. The name “Sapu” is registered.
2018 The app is published on the Google Play Store.
2018–2022 iOS version completed. Sapu is live on the Apple App Store.

But we did not immediately market or launch widely. Why?

Because we believe in one principle: quality is proven by relentless testing, not promises.

Over 8 years, we:

· Fixed every issue
· Refined the user experience
· Ensured the app is stable, fast, and reliable

Our target was 99.9% perfect – not merely “okay”, but near‑flawless. Only in 2026 did we feel confident to release Sapu for full public use.
